It’s the When, Where, How. When to shoot, How to shoot, and Where to shoot.
Offense is more than just shooting. We’ll focus on not only the fundamentals of shooting, building muscle memory, but also learning when to push and dodge, how to dodge, and where to dodge. Depending on the set (1 4, 2 3, 2 2, 3 2) and the defense; a man or zone, we go over progressions of how to attack the defense. We also spend time teaching off ball movement, creating pressure and confusion to defenses, while creating looks and/or match ups. We will also spend time on fastbreaks; from attacking the defense with spacing and movement, to force slides for easy looks. At SGT, we will run through progressions for each of the above. This helps the player build confidence with his skillset, but also gives him the advantage of understanding how the defense will respond to on ball/off ball movement, allowing him to be one move ahead.
